What’s This “Critical Thinking” Thing? And why is everybody talking about it?

In the education world, the importance of critical thinking comes up frequently.  At the same time, there is still a great deal of confusion about what critical thinking really is and how to teach it.  This session aims to clarify critical thinking for all participants.  Not only will participants learn what kinds of techniques help to stimulate critical thinking, they will witness first-hand how critical thinking can be effectively utilized in a variety of classroom settings.  Attendees will be asked to participate in several discussions as well as engage with real-world practices.  After completing the exercises during this training, participants will walk away with more than just a working definition, they will also have learned some practical activities that they can begin using right away.  Educators who attend this session will be better armed to help their students master the most complex problems one can encounter, whether that’s on the GED or in the real world.
