Support Literacy in Cuyahoga County
The Literacy Cooperative is the lead affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL) in Cuyahoga County, enrolling over 39,000 of the 66,000 eligible children. This program provides free, monthly, age-appropriate books to children under five, laying the foundation for early literacy success.
We have distributed over 1.5 million books to more than 65,000 children in our community. A 2022 survey showed increased parent-child reading frequency among participating families, enhancing kindergarten readiness and long-term academic success. In 2023, a survey of DPIL families found:
- 80% of children read more with their parents/guardians after receiving the books.
- 90% of parents believe the program is preparing their children for kindergarten.
- 96% of families share the benefits of DPIL with others.
- 60% of parents report reading more themselves.
