Free Cool Hybrid Tools for Contextualized Social Studies

How can we prepare adult learners for a changing economic landscape? What real-life, online tools can build HSE and ELL skills for adults entering the trades?

This workshop will introduce some of the top tools to prepare adult learners for the Social Studies HSE exam, U.S. Citizenship, or trades education.

Fall 2021 will require the flexible skills of hybrid learning. We need to anticipate that this year many learners or entire classes will have periods when they must utilize remote or online learning.

How can you best provide flexible digital instruction in social studies? We will discuss effective instructional strategies to build content knowledge for adult learners in person, remotely, or both!

This two-hour webinar will guide adult education instructors to explore The Literacy Cooperative’s Contextualized Curriculum in the areas of Construction: Social Studies, and Manufacturing: Social Studies. In preparation, participants will need to access and download those TWO documents from https://literacycooperative.org/contextualized-curriculum/

Activities will include an overview of the structure of each highlighted section, a sample lesson in each area, and an opportunity to complete an activity from the student’s perspective.

The Literacy Cooperative’s updates to their free, downloadable Contextualized Curriculum will help your adult learners walk away feeling more prepared for both the HSE exams and job training programs.

TLC’s publications join dozens of other organizations who have provided industry-specific content online for adult educators: FREE! Our curricula curate the best of those free industry resources into structured sets of lessons specifically for non-traditional adult learners.
