The Read Across America Celebration is The Literacy Cooperative’s annual event that brings community members together to celebrate the power of literacy and inspire action. Each spring, this high-impact evening features an engaging keynote speaker, powerful stories from families, and recognition of local literacy champions.
In addition to celebrating our 10th annual Read Across America Celebration, we are recognizing 20 years of leadership by The Literacy Cooperative with special guest Randell McShepard, Vice President of Public Affairs & Chief Talent Officer at RPM International Inc., in conversation with Dan Moulthrop, CEO of the City Club of Cleveland. Other exciting highlights is the presentation of the 5th Kurt Karakul Literacy Award and testimonials from families impacted by Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
Together, we are building a more literate, connected, and empowered community.
The 2025 Read Across America Celebration was held on April 16 at Cuyahoga Community College, with keynote speaker Dr. Amy Acton, a nationally recognized leader in public health. The evening also featured the presentation of the Kurt Karakul Literacy Award to the Kids’ Book Bank, honoring their commitment to advancing literacy by distributing over 45,000 books each month to children across Greater Cleveland.
