READ ACROSS AMERICA DAY 2024 RECAP
Every year on March 2nd, we recognize and celebrate Read Across America Day! This literacy holiday was created in 1998 by the National Education Association (NEA) and is the nation’s largest celebration of reading. Every year, NEA chooses a theme to coincide with the day, this year was “Celebrating a Nation of Diverse Readers”, as a way to raise awareness about the importance, value, and fun of reading and sharing diverse books.
Since RAAD fell on a Saturday this year, our community campaign was celebrated on Monday, March 4, during Read Across America week. The 2024 campaign was a great success! Across all of The Literacy Cooperative’s social media platforms, we boasted over 4,000 impressions. In addition, partners, families, and local organizations joined in on the fun. Scroll down to see some of the pictures from the day.
With the help of our partners, The Literacy Cooperative invited the community to post on social media a photo or quote of their favorite book celebrating diversity in literacy using the community hashtags #ReadReflectConnect and #ReadAcrossAmericaDay. Those who posted photos were entered into a raffle for a $50 e-gift card!
Save the date: Continue the celebration on April 10, 2024 at the Read Across America Celebration!
