Join us for an insightful session titled “Transitioning from ABE to IET: Unlocking Opportunities for Success,” where we will delve into the journey of helping all state-funded adult education programs in Washington, D.C., transition to Integrated Education and Training (IET) providers. This session will provide a comprehensive overview of the rationale behind this important shift, detailing the benefits for learners and the workforce.
By “Unlocking Opportunities for Success,” we will outline the critical timeline for implementation and highlight the partnerships that played a pivotal role in this transformation. Key considerations for successful IET integration will also be discussed, along with an analysis of measurable results and success stories that demonstrate the positive impact of this initiative. Attendees will leave equipped with actionable strategies and insights to facilitate similar transitions in their own programs, ultimately enhancing educational and career opportunities for their learners.

ABOUT THE FACILITATORS
Michelle Johnson is the State Director for Adult and Family Education at the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education. She holds a MS in Educational Leadership, Graduate Certificate in Adult Education and a BA in Communication/Women’s Studies and has over 30 years of experience in adult education, training, and human services.
Stacey Downey is a Program Analyst with the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education, Adult and Family Education. She holds an MA in Literature and Writing, a Graduate Certificate in Adult Education and a BA in English and has over 20 years of experience in adult and higher education in the US and abroad.
Dr. Heather Bruce is the Director of the Adult Education Graduate program at the University of the District of Columbia. She holds a PhD in Human & Organization Development; an MA in Human & Organization Systems Development; an MSc. in Applied Behavioral Sciences; a Graduate Certificate in Leadership Development; a Graduate Fellow in Change Management & Organization Development; and a B.Sc. in Management and Technology and has over 25 years of experience in facilitating adult learning, capacity building and vocational training.
Dr. Ndeye F. Diagne is a senior education consultant and professor at the University of the District of Columbia. She holds a PhD in Physics and Materials Science from Howard University and an Executive Master in Educational Management Leadership from Georgetown University and she has over 15 years of experience in education in the U.S. and internationally, action research, leveraging data-driven insights to inform programmatic decisions and promoting continuous improvement.
