Online Workshop-Building Character through Characters: Teaching SEL through Literature

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is a key component to achievement, engagement, and motivation for students, but due to lack of time and other resources educators may find it difficult to meet content standards, literacy standards, and SEL standards. Building Character through Characters: Teaching SEL Through Literature is designed to give educators practical strategies they may use to implement SEL while improving critical thinking, comprehension, character analysis and other important components of literacy. This workshop promises to be engaging,interactive, empowering, and enlightening. Participants will leave with useful strategies that are simple and effective so that their students may improve literacy and SEL skills simultaneously.
PRESENTER: Chanelle R. McCloud, M. Ed. is the founder and CEO of Professional Inspiration, LLC, whose mission is to inspire people to greatness. She has 16 years of experience in education, and is a certified teacher with a K-12 reading endorsement. Chanelle, a Kent State University and Notre Dame College Graduate, began her career in youth services and GED programs, and eventually became a middle school teacher English Language Arts Teacher for 10 years. Today, Chanelle presents engaging and interactive professional development workshops and creates online professional development curriculum that gives participants L.I.F.E. That is: Learning, Inspiration, Fun, and Empowerment.
