Early Writing and Conventions of Print

Participants will receive an overview of early writing skill development and conventions of print knowledge (including print knowledge, concepts of print and book knowledge)in late toddlers and preschoolers. Participants will receive many easy to use ideas for facilitating and fostering writing development and a complete book knowledge activity to implement in their classroom play centers and group activities.

This session has 2.5 Ohio Approved Credits. Registration is held on the OCCRRA portal. Registrants must have or create an account with OCCRRA to register for this session.

Presenter: Robbie Haic serves as the Curriculum Director and Literacy Specialist with Daily Dose of Reading since 2012. In this capacity, she has created 27 curriculum units of study focusing on early literacy skill development that are easily embedded into existing curriculum in most early childhood settings. DDR serves over 800 children enrolled in area Head Start centers presenting a Play and Learn literacy program to them one time each month. Robbie was an Intervention Specialist and Early Childhood Special Educator for 32 years in the public school setting. She earned a B.S. Elem. Ed., in Special Ed. and EEH degree from Bowling Green State University and a M.A. in Curriculum & Instruction from Ashland University.
