Cleveland Celebrates Read Across America Day
March 2, 2020
The Literacy Cooperative and dozens of community organizations banded together to celebrate Read Across America Day on Monday, March 2, 2020.
The National Education Association’s Read Across America Day is the nation’s largest annual celebration of reading. NEA projects 45 million Americans, young and old, picked up books to read silently or aloud that day.
Once again Cleveland poured out support on social media using the local hashtag #CLEKidsRead and #ReadAcrossAmericaDay. For hours, Read Across America Day was trending at number three in Cleveland, meaning it was the third most tweeted about subject, due to the advocacy and promotion of reading exhibited by the community.
Thank you to all who posted! Scroll through the day’s tweets and some of the photos from our partners below.
The Literacy Cooperative will continue to celebrate the joys of reading on April 1st for our annual Read Across America Luncheon. The link to RSVP is below!
Our keynote speaker, Meghan Cox Gurdon is the author of The Enchanted Hour: The Miraculous Power of Reading Aloud in the Age of Distraction, a book reviewer for the Wall Street Journal, and a graduate of Bowdoin College.
