Read Across America Day: #CuyahogaReads2021
Join The Literacy Cooperative and many of our partners for a fun and engaging day filled with reading!
Throughout the day, we and our partners will host live book readings with prominent and local authors as well as the staff of many of the organizations. We will encourage families to listen to the stories and to read some of their favorites together. We want all of Cuyahoga County to post photos on social media that show their love of reading! It can be photos of themselves reading, photos of families reading together, photos of their favorite books, or photos of their home libraries, using the hashtag #CuyahogaReads2021. We plan to flood social media with our love of reading! Our goal is to show our children the joy of reading and build a community of readers on March 2nd and every day. We will share books that reflect everyone in the community to help students discover their own voices, learn from the voices of others, and continue living a fulfilling life.

9:00AM: Kick things off with a fun program from Daily Dose of Reading! We’ll sing songs and have fun counting and dancing.

2:00PM: Join Pete from CityFresh as he reads one of his favorite books, Room on the Broom! This book is a great reminder that there is room for everybody, no matter your differences!

7:00PM: Rocky River Public Library’s Dr. Suess Birthday Bash!
- Join the library for a live balloon demonstration, a Dr. Seuss story time and a puppet play. Participants will take the Read Across America Reader’s Oath and sing the Reader’s Song at the beginning of the program. There will be a drawing for several Dr. Seuss books. After the program, participants will be able to pick up a Dr. Seuss activity bag that will include their Certificate of Achievement for participating in Read Across America and a small balloon animal.

All Month: Visit University Hospitals’ YouTube channel as volunteers and staff read books! Check out a new read-aloud by Michael Armstrong, a local children’s author, and Rainbow Center employee! (in partnership with Reach Out and Read – Greater Cleveland.)
