Happy Retirement, Laurie!

The Literacy Cooperative staff wishes a happy retirement to Laureen Atkins-Holliday!

Laureen "Laurie" Atkins-Holliday has been with The Literacy Cooperative for 14 years, most recently in the capacity of Vice President of Strategic Initiatives. In her role, she engaged stakeholders to address literacy gaps, researched promising literacy practices that articulated seamlessly with workforce initiatives, and advocated for literacy inclusion practices with evidence-based measures for learner outcomes.

Her work included leading initiatives for two-generational learning environments, career pathway opportunities for low-literate adults, and implementing industry-specific contextualized curriculum. In addition, she excelled in overseeing our series of Professional Development offerings which bring together literacy experts with area practitioners and administrators.

Prior to joining The Literacy Cooperative, Laurie served as Social Program Administrator in the Office of Health & Human Services division of Cuyahoga County where she managed a $4.5 million federal grant. While at Cuyahoga County, she was Deputy Director of Workforce Development and oversaw the operation of the One-Stop System. She also worked for the Center of Career Pathway Development for Cuyahoga Community College's Workforce and Economic Development Division where she managed the staff of literacy and workplace success skills programs. Her private sector work includes 13 years as a consultant and manager with CGI Information Systems and Management Consultants directing workforce programs.

Laurie is a true leader who approached her work with intention, passion, and a collaborative spirit. We are deeply grateful for her leadership and the lasting impact she has made across our organization and community. We are also pleased to continue working with her as a consultant through the end of the year.

Laurie, you did more than contribute to The Literacy Cooperative. You helped shape it.

We will miss your steady guidance, your insight, and your commitment to this work. You have set a standard that will continue to inspire us.

We wish you all the best in this next chapter. You are a true literacy champion and will always be part of The Literacy Cooperative community.
